Kohler Nantucket Basket Classes- Aug 21-23, 2009

Kay and Fred Kohler will be offering 3 days of Nantuckets.

You chose the basket, they will teach it.

The Kohler's come to us from Fort Wayne Indiana. Self taught Nantucket weaver, Kay began to weave baskets in 1985, weaving her first Nantucket in 1988. Fred began to make the bases and later he began making handles. They started teaching in the early nineties. After Fred retired their teaching really took off. Fred is a woodworker, so it is easy for him and a joy to make the wood accessories for the Nantuckets. They both enjoy teaching classes and weaving Nantuckets.

• Classes will be held from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at
the Coventry Club House in York County, 100 Wrought Iron Road

• Everyone has their choice of basket and their choice of days-Aug 21, 22, 23

• Wood choices-cherry, oak or walnut-all handles match the base

• Snack Tray and Salad are oak bases only

• Nantucket Purse will be taken back for Mr. Kohler to make the lid to fit the basket. The purse price includes a scrimshaw on top and a date button inside the lid. When the purse is returned, it is completely finished and ready to use.
